Property Valuation & Payment Dates
- The Scott County Property and Taxation Office is responsible for assessing property values on behalf of the city. Your property's valuation is included in the annual tax statement mailed each spring (typically in March) by Scott County.
- If you are responsible for paying your own property tax (e.g., you do not escrow with your mortgage company), you will find payment coupons for your property taxes in the annual Scott County tax statement.
- First-half due May 15
- Second-half due Oct. 15

Property owners who disagree with the valuation of their home or business can appeal to the Scott County Board of Appeal and Equalization at the annual Shakopee Open Book meeting, held in May.If you have questions about your assessment, contact the Scott County assessor listed on your value notice. Homestead Filing
You may file for homestead status at the Customer Service Center for Scott County, 200 Fourth Ave. W., Shakopee. New property owners are required to file for homestead classification by Dec. 15.Call 952-496-8150 or visit Scott County’s website for more information.
