Home Fire Safety Program

A home fire can be both costly and traumatic. The best protection is prevention—and the Shakopee Fire Department is here to help.

Through our Home Fire Safety program, firefighters offer free, in-home visits to help residents stay safe. During the visit, we will:

• Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
• Share fire and cooking safety tips
• Help create a family escape plan
• Provide age-appropriate fire safety info for kids, seniors, and people with disabilities
• Offer burn and fall prevention guidance
• Answer any fire safety questions you may have

We also assist with smoke detector placement and offer a limited supply of free detectors for qualifying households.
