CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATES: City facilities are open to the public. The Shakopee Community Center will reopen July 6. Find the latest updates at www.ShakopeeMN.gov/covid19.

To protect its streets from being torn up due to sewer service line failures, the city introduced a new multi-year project in 2015 to strengthen privately owned sanitary sewer lateral pipes.

Contractors use a no-dig method to install a new pipe inside the existing lateral pipe from the sewer main to a point just beyond the street edge. This technique has been shown to strengthen pipes and reduce the chance of failure.
