Public Notice: City Code amendment related to state plumbing code and inspections

The City Council will be asked at its Tuesday, March 17, 2026 meeting to consider an amendment to City Code Sections 111.01 and 111.11 relating to state plumbing code and plumbing inspections. 


AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA,

AMENDING SECTIONS 111.01 AND 111.11 OF THE SHAKOPEE CITY CODE RELATING TO THE STATE PLUMBING CODE AND PLUMBING INSPECTIONS

The City Council of Shakopee, Minnesota ordains:

Section 1.  Section 111.01, Subd. C of the Shakopee City Code is amended to read as follows:

     Building Codes.
  1. The State Building Code, as adopted by the Commissioner of Administration pursuant to M.S. §§ 326B.101 to 326B.16, as they may be amended from time to time, including all of the amendments, rules, and regulations established, adopted, and published from time to time by the Department of Labor and Industry Construction Codes and Licensing is hereby adopted by reference with the exception of the optional chapters, unless specifically adopted in this section.
  2. The State Building Code is hereby incorporated in this section as if fully set out herein:

  3. Minn. Rules Ch. 1301, Building Official Certification;

  24. This municipality may adopt by reference any or all of the following optional chapters of Minn. Rules Ch. 1306, Special Fire Protection System; and Minn. Rules Ch. 1335, Floodproofing regulations, Minn. and Rules Ch. 1335.0600 to 1335.1200.; and

Section 2.  Section 111.11, Subd. C of the Shakopee City Code is amended to read as follows:

  1. Plumbing inspections. The City is authorized to perform plumbing inspections as required by the Minnesota State Plumbing Code and Minnesota Rule 1300.0215.

Section 3.  Section 111.11 OF the Shakopee City Code is amended by adding the following subdivision:

  1. Plumbing Plan Review Fee. The City shall charge a plumbing plan review fee equal to 20% of plumbing permit fee contained in the City’s annual fee schedule.

Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance becomes effective from and after its adoption and publication.
