Shakopee Snapshot is mailed quarterly to all homes in Shakopee and also available at City Hall, Shakopee Community Center and the Shakopee Public Library.

Shakopee Snapshot was formerly named Hometown Messenger. The publication was renamed in 2023 in a community contest to submit new name ideas. The four finalists were chosen by the Communications Department, and everyone who works at the City had an opportunity to vote on the winner.
