Summerhill Place closed May 21-June 5
Summerhill Place (cul-de-sac) will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, May 21 through June 5. The closure will accommodate the excavation and lowering of watermain that was identified by Shakopee Public Utilities as being installed too shallow. Canterbury Road/Fourth Avenue intersection closed
The intersection of County Highway 83 (Canterbury Road) and Fourth Avenue will remain closed through mid-September due to the ongoing County Highway 83 Intersection Improvements at 4th Avenue project. There is no access between County Highway 101 and Valley Industrial Boulevard South.
Gas line installation along Shakopee Avenue West
Michels Pipeline is installing new gas lines in areas impacted by the 2018 Street Reconstruction. Affected homes will receive a door hanger. Work is expected to take two weeks. Contact: Alex Enyi at 952-233-9367.
Vierling Drive closed west of Taylor Street
Vierling Drive is closed between the mall entrance and Taylor Street through the winter. This section of Vierling Drive will be constructed and completed in summer 2018.
Sewer project impacts trail traffic along Highway 101
With work continuing on the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services sewer improvement project, the Blue Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant in Shakopee is temporarily re-directing all plant traffic to its west gate. Due to limited visibility at this gate for bicyclists on the Minnesota Valley State Trail along Highway 101 and drivers leaving the plant, bicyclists are encouraged to heed stop signs when approaching the plant.
Gas line restoration work delayed until spring 2018
Earlier this fall, Michaels Pipeline completed maintenance to a high-pressure natural gas line through several Shakopee properties. CenterPoint Energy also replaced gas lines to 37 properties. Restoration of yards will be completed in May 2018.
Pedestrian bridge at Memorial Park removed
The Minnesota Valley State Trail's Mill Pond channel pedestrian crossing is closed. The bridge, located on the northern edge of Memorial Park, has been removed. The city is working with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and other partners to explore options for repairing, replacing or completely removing the bridge.
