With access to multiple major transportation arterials and a highly educated and skilled workforce, Shakopee provides a great opportunity for business and residential development.

Part of the Department of Planning and Development, the economic development division assists expanding businesses and facilitates the expansion and redevelopment within the community by developing and implementing economic development programs, serving as a key point of contact for businesses looking to locate or expand in the city and guiding projects and proposals through the necessary approval processes.

The division also assists in the promotion and marketing of Shakopee for business development and job creation, serves as a key contact for existing and prospective businesses, and serves as a staff liaison for the Economic Development Authority (EDA).

TAP Brew Fest

The City hosts the annual TAP Brew Fest in downtown Shakopee. This beer tasting and innovation event is hosted in the Lewis Street parking lot. Dozens of local brewers offer both their flagship beers, along with limited edition innovative beers made just for TAP.
