Scenic Heights Park was originally built in 1991. A new playground opened in 2022, and an edible landscape garden has been established to offer free harvestable plants to the community. An outdoor Fitness Court and pickleball courts opened in summer 2024, as well.
With plenty of green space and a variety of amenities, this park has something for all ages to enjoy!
Fitness Court
The Fitness Court was installed at the park in summer 2024 and provides an area for community members to be active for free!
The Fitness Court has two sides, one for circuit and strength training and one for workout activities like Zumba, Pilates or yoga. The circuit training side is designed to provide a full-body workout in just seven minutes by rotating through seven zones: core, squat, push, lunge, pull, agility and bend.
How it works
- Choose an exercise for each station
- Move through stations 1 through 7
- Work out at each station for 45 seconds
- Rest for 15 seconds as you move to the next station
Fitness Court digital app
To get the most from Fitness Court workouts, community members can download the digital app and follow along with existing workouts.
Edible Landscape Garden
The edible landscape garden at Scenic Heights has edible plants, shrubs, and trees that are maintained by a group of volunteers for anyone in the community to harvest and eat. This project was made possible through a grant from Scott County Public Health and a water line donated by Shakopee Public Utilities.
Garden Etiquette
The golden rule is to please leave the garden better than you found it. To ensure this garden is safe and accessible for all, please:
- Take some, leave most
- Only harvest what you need
- Only eat what you can identify
- Eat plants at your own risk
- Harvest plants only when they are ready
Volunteering
If you are interested in helping maintain the garden by watering, weeding and performing general garden maintenance, please fill out our volunteer application form.
Pickleball Courts
Scenic Heights Park has four dedicated pickleball courts designed specifically for pickleball use. Court usage is on a first-come, first-serve basis, unless there is a posted event.
