The Powers development is a planned unit development for a multi-phased development located near the intersection of Marystown Road (County Highway 15) and 17th Avenue (County Highway 16). Generally known as the Powers Development, this approximately 10-acre, mixed-use project will include three lots:
- Veterans Affairs clinic (approximately 2.49-acres)
- Market-rate apartment (approximately 3.77-acres)
- Build-to-suit medical office building (approximately 2.75-acres)
The VA clinic will be the first phase of the project and is expected to break ground in spring 2020. The apartment and medical office development will follow in subsequent phases.
The project will involve an extension of Lusitano Street and the addition of new sanitary, stormwater and water service lines to the site.
Alignment to Community Priorities and Goals
The development fits with the goals and priorities of the community and the comprehensive plan by adding 100 to 130 market-rate apartments to accommodate a growing population. The project will also contain a new Veterans Affairs clinic and a build-to-suit medical office building, bringing additional state-of-the-art medical facilities to the growing west side of Shakopee.

The project will add needed market-rate apartments and provide a new VA clinic to serve Shakopee’s residents. The build-to-suit medical office building once filled will provide additional medical services to the Shakopee community.
