Parks and Rec Summer 2020 Modified CoverPrecautions related to COVID-19 have changed many summer plans, including at the Shakopee Parks and Recreation Department.

That's why the Parks and Recreation Department has modified its summer programs to continue offering high-quality programming in the safest manner possible.

Check out the Special Summer 2020 Parks and Recreation Activities Brochure for summer programming for preschoolers and youth, as well as programs for fitness enthusiasts. The brochure includes both virtual and in-person programming. Registration opens Tuesday, June 16 at

Our programs will operate under the latest Centers for Disease Control and Minnesota Department of Health guidelines. That also means they are subject to cancellations or changes based on those standards.

At this time, the department is not offering Learn to Skate and Active Older Adult programs until further notice. We are working on plans to safely offer these programs again; watch for more information in our fall brochure, which will come out in mid-August.

Swimming lessons will be offered this summer. At this time, however, we are still working on the schedule. Please sign up for Aquatics updates at

Shakopee Parks and Recreation is continuing plans for our special summer events, including the Happy Birthday America parade and Huber Park Performance and Event Series. While these events might look different, we hope you will join us in participating under health guidelines.
