Message from the Mayor regarding COVID-19
Hello, Shakopee –
These past weeks have been a trying time for many of us, as the COVID-19 pandemic impacts our daily lives in so many ways.
As we hunker down and heed the advice of public health authorities, I have seen tremendous outpourings of community support. From people sewing protective gear for the medical staff at St. Francis Regional Medical Center to strangers' generous offers to run errands or share essential items, our Shakopee community has come together and is caring for one another in remarkable ways. You are all showing what makes Shakopee so special.
Thank you to all our local emergency workers – first responders, doctors, nurses, delivery drivers, grocery store workers and many, many more – for your committed service to our community.
The City of Shakopee has declared a local emergency, and we are doing what we can to protect our employees while continuing to provide essential services. We appreciate your understanding and patience and encourage you to reach out to us by phone, email, social media or the city website at any time. We are here for you.
Lastly, please continue to support our local businesses. Be kind to your neighbors. Get outside and stretch your legs. Take care of your families. Call a friend – near or far. Let’s keep showing everyone we are in this together.
Bill Mars, Mayor
