March 17 COVID-19 Update
Tonight’s City Council meeting is on as scheduled. We have a shortened agenda with some items being moved to future meetings. Unless you have items on the agenda, we encourage you to consider staying home and watching the meeting online at www.ShakopeeMN.gov/livestream. In accordance with Minnesota Statute 13d.015 subd 5, the city provides notice that one or more members may appear at the March 17, 2020, City Council meeting via telephone.
With the Shakopee Community Center and Ice Arena closing today, we understand families will be looking for ways to stay active. We encourage you to get outside, walk, bike and play in your yard. While city parks are open, please know COVID-19 has been shown to remain active on surfaces and city staff does not have the resources to clean and sanitize playground equipment.
Our Police and Fire Departments have moved into an elevated level of emergency response. Emergency responders are taking extra precautions for COVID-19 calls, such as limiting personnel entering a residence at one time. Both departments’ public outreach programs have been suspended until further notice. We encourage you to contact them via phone whenever possible.
The City of Shakopee is committed to protecting public health. We will continue to evaluate the situation and take the appropriate steps to ensure we deliver high-quality services while protecting residents, guests and employees. Find updates at www.ShakopeeMN.gov/covid19.
