Fire Relief Association receives water rescue equipment donation
International Paper donated $16,112 for the equipment purchase
Shakopee, Minn. – The Shakopee Fire Department Relief Association recently received $16,112 from the International Paper Foundation toward the purchase of water rescue equipment.
The relief association used the money to purchase water rescue equipment that supports the department’s water and dive rescue team. The equipment includes Viking Haztech Drysuits and undergarments, full-face masks with communications, buoyancy compensator devices (BCD’s), half-masks, fins and inflatable life vests.
“This equipment is used to equip and train our SCUBA divers to be efficient and prepared,” said Deputy Chief Joe Simon. “Dive rescue calls are high-risk, low-frequency calls for the department, but it’s imperative that we’re ready and well-equipped to perform when needed.”
International Paper supports U.S. non-profit organizations that align with its signature causes – education, hunger, health and wellness and disaster relief.
