Congratulations to 2019 Show Off Shakopee winners

Two kids standing on bridge trying to reach rainbowThe 2019 Shakopee Off Shakopee photo contest winners were recently announced in the Winter 2020 Hometown Messenger. The 2019 theme was "A city for all seasons."

Congratulations to Christopher Straub, the grand prize winner. His spring photo, "Rainbow over Shakopee," shows a beautiful rainbow over the Holmes Street pedestrian bridge with two children reaching up to touch it. Straub will receive $100 for his winning photograph.

A judging panel of city staff also selected summer, fall and winter winners. Each photograph will receive $50.

  • Pete Rose, summer, "Thole Lake Sunset;" and winter, "Memorial Park Hoar Frost"
  • Tony Samuelson, fall (tie), "Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge"
  • Kelly Sunde, fall (tie), "Hidden Beauty"

The winners will be recognized at the Dec. 17 City Council meeting. The photographs will be displayed at city hall for the next year.

More than 50 photos were entered into this year's contest. Some entries will be on display at the Shakopee Public Library, 235 Lewis St. S., through December. See more photos at
