Goats to graze at Memorial Park
Grazing goats are returning to Memorial Park next week to help combat invasive plants that grow at the park.
The city is partnering with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) to bring in goats beginning next week. Fifty to 100 goats will graze in the oak savanna for approximately 2 weeks. These goats will help manage buckthorn and other invasive plants.
Portions of the park will be fenced off during this process, which will prevent the goats from escaping. The city and SMSC ask that residents do not try to feed or pet the goats.
