After Council Report: Sept. 30, Oct. 1
The Shakopee City Council met in workshop Monday, Sept. 30 as part of its strategic plan development. This was the second of two planning sessions to develop strategic priorities and outcomes. Council members and staff identified three desired outcomes and target measurements for priorities related to financial stability, communication, enhancing strengths of community and effective public services. The plan will be further refined and brought back to council November. More information: Nate Burkett, Assistant City Administrator, 952-233-9310.
The Shakopee City Council met Tuesday, Oct. 1. Among the meeting highlights:
Council approves preliminary, final plat and rezones property
The City Council approved the preliminary and final plat of La Tour Terrace and the rezoning of 117.43 acres north of County Highway 78 to single-family residential (R-1B). Shakopee Public Utilities Commission plans to construct an elevated water tank, multiple wells, pumphouse and treatment plant facility to serve the Windermere development. The plat creates a 7.019-acre lot for the SPUC site with the balance of the property in outlots, which will require future approval of a new plat. More information: Mark Noble, Senior Planner, 952-233-9348.
Council approves name change for 128th Street
The City Council approved changing the street name from 128th Street West to Astoria Drive for a segment of road between County Highway 15 and the Windermere South Second Addition plat. The name change was necessary to have consistency with the city’s street name convention and avoid confusion of which areas are within Jackson Township and the City of Shakopee.
