UPDATE: Crack sealing project to start May 28

Post Date:05/14/2019 9:26 am

The city's crack sealing operations are being delayed again. Crack sealing is set to begin May 28.

Crack sealing blows out cracks in city streets and fills with rubber. The material is then covered with biodegradable toilet paper. The process is intended to extend the life of a street.

Crack sealing can be a messy operation. Contractors will post no parking signs to indicate work areas. Please move your vehicle off the street and away from the end of your driveway due to blown rock and debris. It is OK to drive over the paper.

The contractor had originally planned to start May 15 in Shakopee, but rain impacted his schedule. Additional rain could delay the project further. Updates will be posted on social media, as well as on the Pavement Maintenance webpage.
