Shakopee’s annual Clean Up Day is April 27

Clean Up Day 2019 flyerShakopee, Minn. – Start your spring cleaning off the right way with some help from the City of Shakopee's annual Clean Up Day Saturday, April 27. Drop off items between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m. behind the Public Works building, 400 Gorman St. Enter off Fourth Avenue East.

Clean Up Day is a recycling event where residents can discard old appliances, electronics, yard waste, tires, car batteries, scrap metal and more. Cost is $20 per vehicle for recyclable items and $25 per vehicle for garbage. Additional fees may apply. Visit for a list of accepted and non-accepted items.

Clean Up Day is open to City of Shakopee, Jackson Township and Louisville Township residents only. A valid ID with current address required. Questions can be directed to the Public Works Department at 952-233-9550 or

Back by popular demand is free paper shredding and textile (clothes, shoes, linens, accessories) recycling. Residents dropping off paper and textiles do not need to wait in line. Shredding and textiles will be located at the front of the 500 Gorman St. building. Enter between 400 and 500 Gorman and turn left into the parking lot.

Donations for Bridging, Inc.

During Clean Up Day, Shakopee Rotary will be collecting furniture and household items for Bridging, Inc., which serves people in need based on qualified referrals from social service agencies and churches in the seven-county metropolitan area. Donations are tax-deductible (thrift market value). Items needed include lightly used furniture, small appliances, kitchenware, linen and specialty items.

To donate to Bridging, Inc., drop off items on the south side of the Public Works building between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m. April 27 or contact Rotarian Tim Whitcomb at 952-445-6170 to schedule an at-home pickup for large furniture. Donations-only vehicles do not need to wait in the recycling event line. To drop off donations only, enter from Gorman between 400 and 500 Gorman and park near the Bridging semi-trailer.      

Arbor Day tree sale continues

A limited number of trees is available; pre-order online as soon as possible. Shakopee residents only. Limit two per household. Tree pickup will be from 1-4 p.m. April 27 in the Public Works yard, 500 Gorman St.
