Officer cleared in November 2018 fatal shooting incident
The Scott County Attorney’s Office announced today a Shakopee Police Officer appropriately exercised the use of deadly force in a Nov. 9, 2018, officer-involved shooting resulting in the death of James Hanchett.
After reviewing the investigative report conducted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which included interviews with officers and body-worn camera video, Scott County Attorney Ron Hocevar found no basis for criminal charges against the involved officer, Officer Thor Carlson.
Hocevar’s statement and video of the officers’ body worn cameras are available at www.scottcountymn.gov/1421/Scott-County-Attorneys-Office.
