Flooding Update for Highway 41 in Chaska 

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Highway 41 will close between Highway 169 and Chaska Boulevard at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, due to the rising water levels of the Minnesota River. Highway 41 will remain closed until the water recedes and any damage to the road can be repaired. Motorists can expect additional traffic on the Highway 101 river crossing in Shakopee.

Over the weekend, MnDOT restriped northbound Highway 169 over the Bloomington Ferry Bridge to add a temporary third lane to ease congestion.

Officer cleared in November 2018 fatal shooting incident

The Scott County Attorney’s Office announced today a Shakopee Police Officer appropriately exercised the use of deadly force in a Nov. 9, 2018, officer-involved shooting resulting in the death of James Hanchett.

After reviewing the investigative report conducted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which included interviews with officers and body-worn camera video, Scott County Attorney Ron Hocevar found no basis for criminal charges against the involved officer, Officer Thor Carlson.
