Shakopee finance team recognized
The City of Shakopee was awarded with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting on Nov. 19. The award, which is given by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), is in recognition of the city’s comprehensive annual financial report for fiscal year 2017. This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. This is the 33-consecutive year that the city has received this distinguished award.
The city’s comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the GFOA, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the full report.
