Notice of Public Hearing for 2018 Street Reconstruction Project
City Council will open a public hearing on Nov. 20, 2018 at 7 p.m. regarding 2018 street reconstruction assessments for properties adjacent to the following streets:
- Shakopee Avenue from Market Street to County Highway 17.
- Dakota Street from Tenth Avenue to Shakopee Avenue.
- Minnesota Street from Tenth Avenue to Shakopee Avenue.
The total cost of the improvement project is $1,873,981.17
The total cost to be assessed is $274,384.22
The proposed assessment is on file for review at the Office of the City Clerk in City Hall, at 435 Gorman Street. Written and oral objections will be considered by the Council at the Nov. 20 meeting. Property owners wishing to appeal an assessment must do so in writing prior to the meeting on Nov. 20, or can present a written objection to the presiding officer of the hearing on Nov. 20.
Any property owner may appeal an assessment to District Court, by serving notice of the appeal to the Mayor or City Clerk within 30 days of the adoption of the assessment, and filing with the Court within 10 days of after the service of the Mayor or Clerk.
Property owners should be aware that both of the previous procedures described must be followed in order for an appeal to be valid.
