17th Avenue ped crossing flashers to go live
The new pedestrian flashers on 17th Avenue (County Highway 16) are set to start going live tomorrow. Pending any further weather delays or system turn-on troubleshooting, the pedestrian crossing flasher system is planned to be operational by or on the following dates:
- Jackson Elementary – Lusitano Street: Friday, Sept. 7
- Shakopee High School – Shire Street: Friday, Sept. 7
- Sun Path Elementary – Dublin Lane: Monday, Sept. 10
- Shakopee Area Catholic School – England Way: Friday, Sept. 14
Check out this video on how the pedestrian flasher system works: www.scottcountymn.gov/1813.
Construction on County Highway 16 should be complete by the end of this month, and all lanes re-opened in each direction. Drivers are asked to use care and patience when traveling through the construction site, keeping everyone safe on the road and sidewalks.
The comprehensive pedestrian crossing system with overhead flashers will be completed in mid-December, which will add an additional level of safety and driver awareness.
