The Shakopee City Council met Tuesday, Jan. 2. Among the meeting highlights:

Council reviews, discusses city’s purchasing procedures

The City Council reviewed the city’s purchasing process to learn more about how city staff uses Tungsten Workflow software to ensure purchases meet the city’s purchasing policy parameters. Council extends school resource officer agreement

The City Council approved an extension of the city’s school resource officer agreement with the Shakopee School District for 2018. No changes were made from the 2017 agreement. The school district’s annual contribution for four school resource officers is $212,817. More information: Jeff Tate, Police Chief, 952-233-9400. 

City to purchase Public Works equipment, police vehicles

The City Council approved the purchase of several vehicles for 2018:

  • A Toro Groundsmaster large area rotary mower from MTI in the amount of $108,800.46
  • Two 2018 Ford Utility Police Interceptor vehicles from Ford of Hibbing in the amount of $57,860.90. The marked patrols will replace two aging patrols, which will be used by the Building Inspections Division.
  • Two Kage KBSS10-XL 10-foot snowplows from Truck Utilities, Inc., in the amount of $23,200. The plows will be used with John Deere 5085 tractors to increase efficiency by combining a blade and box plow in one operation.
  • Four skidsteer loaders from Lano Equipment and Ziegler Rental in the total amount of $16,295 after trade-in of old skidsteers.

Public hearing for TIF district set for March 6

The City Council set a public hearing date for Tax Increment Financing District No. 18 for Canterbury Park. The hearing has been scheduled for March 6, 2018. More information: Michael Kerski, Director of Planning and Development, 952-233-9346.
