EdgeTek Hockey Proshop coming to the Shakopee Ice Arena April 1

Updated: 02/17/2020

Shakopee Parks and Recreation staff has been working hard the last eight months to find a partner to help take over proshop operations at the Shakopee Ice Arena. Our goals have been to enhance the quality of customer service, lower city operating expenses and diversify revenues.

Thankfully, we have found a great public/private partnership with EdgeTek Hockey. Beginning April 1, EdgeTek will open a new full-service hockey proshop at the facility, offering professional skate sharpening and repair, a broader range of high-quality hockey and figure skating products and apparel products and services. We believe this relationship will allow our ice arena staff to focus more on arena operations and programming.

As part of the transition, we are remodeling the front desk area to create a new guest services window. This is where Shakopee Ice Arena staff will be available for open skate, skating programs, open hockey and skate rentals.

With the closure of the ice arena’s proshop – and as we’ve posted since December – previously purchased punch cards for skate sharpening will no longer be accepted after April 1, 2020. Customers are encouraged to use their remaining punches by March 31.

EdgeTek will offer customers with remaining punches on their previously purchased cards will receive a one-time discount of 15-percent off their first EdgeTek Hockey sharpening card.

If you have questions about the new proshop, feel free to reach out to owner Eli Golder at He’s looking forward to introducing his business to the community.
