Update Sept. 1: City Hall Construction

Updated: 09/01/2017

City Hall ExteriorCity employees are settling into the new city hall at 485 Gorman St. after a long couple of days moving at the beginning of August. City services were available throughout the move, even though there was a very high level of activity at both sites. Our IT team deserves a lot of credit for keeping everyone productive, no matter their work site. Our staff has been great at continuing to serve residents despite construction crews working around them. And now that the landscaping is complete, city hall looks like a more finished product.

As with any new building, we are making adjustments to ensure our heating and cooling systems are working at peak efficiency and we're optimizing our space. Employees are getting used to the new layouts and discovering how we are able to more easily and quickly work together to deliver exceptional customer service.

Employees standing at work stationsOur engineering team has joined us in the new building, and it is great to see the improvement in communication and services. It is also really exciting to be so much closer to the Police Department and Public Works. It feels now like we are one big team united to serve the Shakopee community.

Most importantly, when you walk into Shakopee's new city hall, you will find that we are set up to make your experience as easy as possible. Our receptionist will greet you right away and make sure you get where you need to be. The building was designed with customers in mind, and we are seeing that vision b becoming a reality.

Shakopee staff invites you to join us for the grand opening of city hall on Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., so we can share our excitement about our new, customer friendly, efficient building with you!
