Traffic disruptions likely at Fourth Avenue/Gorman Street Feb. 14

Crews will be performing communication utility work at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Gorman Street mid-day Tuesday, Feb. 14. Work could take up to a couple hours. Please expect lane closures.

Crews to start cleaning out Prior Lake Outlet Channel

Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 15, crews will begin removing sediment and debris along the Prior Lake Outlet Channel near Pike Lake Road and Oak Ridge Trail [PDF]. This cleanup work is the result of 2014 flooding that washed out the channel and Highway 21. Residents can expect sidewalk, trail and lane closures over the next five to six weeks, which could disrupt traffic. This is anticipated to a messy operation.

Spring load restrictions in effect Feb. 17

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced spring load restrictions will be in effect on state highways beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17. In keeping with past practice, weight restriction on local streets within the City of Shakopee will also begin at that time. Read more...

Expect heavy truck traffic near Adams Street and Vierling Drive

With site work starting on the new Hy-Vee grocery store, motorists and residents can expect heavy truck traffic in the area over the coming months. Trucks will be entering and exiting the lot at the intersection of Adams Street and Vierling Drive. The traffic is likely to drag dirt onto the streets. Please be careful when driving in the vicinity.

Pedestrian bridge at Memorial Park removed

The Minnesota Valley State Trail's Mill Pond channel pedestrian crossing is closed. The bridge, located on the northern edge of Memorial Park, has been removed. The city is working with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and other partners to explore options of repairing, replacing or completely removing the bridge.
