Bolton & Menk presented its County Highway 83 (Canterbury Road) Study [PDF] to City Council in February 2016.
These improvements will likely be phased in over time. There is potential for a few smaller improvements to occur in the near future if funding becomes available. Other larger corridor improvements will occur as development/redevelopment occurs over time.

The County Highway 83 (Canterbury Road) corridor between County Highway 101 and County Highway 16 (Eagle Creek Boulevard), including the Highway 169 interchange, provides access to a substantial entertainment, commercial and industrial district in Shakopee. County Highway 83 has been identified by the City and Scott County as one of the top 10 commercial corridors in Scott County. The areas served by County Highway 83 are continuing to grow and many expansion projects have already begun which will result in several thousand new jobs in this area in the near future.
The City of Shakopee received an economic development incentive grant from the Scott County Community Development Agency to conduct a County Highway 83 Corridor Readiness Study. The study will identify roadway network improvements needed on and near County Highway 83 to support this anticipated growth. This will allow the City, Scott County and MnDOT to plan for improvements and ensure not only safe and efficient corridor operations, but also continued economic growth.
