Changes to mayoral terms, election calendar
In August 2015, the council approved moving the city’s odd-year elections to even years beginning in 2018. The council canceled the November 2017 election, extending all elected officials’ terms by one year, upon the ordinance effective date.
The City Council also changed the office of mayor from a two-year to four-year term beginning with the next election cycle (2018).
