The Public Works Department oversees the city’s infrastructure system, including streets, sanitary sewer, storm drainage and parks and trails. The department's main functions include:

  • Engineering: Provides civil engineering and technical services concerning the planning, design and construction of private and public works projects
  • Streets: Planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of all city streets
  • Park Maintenance: Maintenance of parks and trails
  • Fleet Services: Maintenance of city-owned equipment and vehicles
  • Sanitary Sewer: Planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of city's sanitary sewer system
  • Storm Drainage: Planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of city's storm drainage system 
  • Garbage & Recycling: Managing the citywide garbage and recycling system
  • City Facilities Upkeep: Building construction, maintenance and landscaping
  • Future Infrastructure: Implementation of the city's capital improvement program
