The city offers hands-on educational and volunteer opportunities to give residents, businesses and organizations a better understanding of the community’s natural resources.
Community Forestry volunteer opportunities
The city has received a grant to buy trees! We need your help planting and maintaining these trees so we can ensure their survival into the future. We have both one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities. Please see below.
Tree planting volunteer events:
Overview: We will be planting, mulching and watering trees along Valley View Road. Wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty and gloves if you desire. Ages under 18 must be accompanied by an adult or sign a waiver. Registration is required – Register now! (Event capped at 50). Refreshments will be provided.
Planting Date: 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 21, 2017
Tree Steward Training will teach you the best way to plant, water and prune young trees. Once you are a tree steward, you will help lead volunteers during planting and pruning events, as well as assist in other community forestry activities. Get outside, learn something new, and help ensure the survival of the trees in your community!
