Shakopee Aquatics is dedicated to providing the opportunity for all to enjoy many aquatic activities, as well as learn to be safe in and around the water.

Learn to Swim

Class ScheduleShakopee Aquatics utilizes the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program. Class descriptions and lesson schedules are available in the latest Parks and Recreation Activities Brochure. If you have questions on level placement, please call 952-233-9508.Register Online

  • Practice outside of class time is essential for improved skill acquisition.
  • Attendance is very important. New skills will build upon those learned in previous classes.
  • Make ups for missed classes are not allowed.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your class to change into swimming attire and shower. Showers are mandatory.

Pools

The city has a cooperative agreement with the Shakopee School District to utilize the district’s pools. During the summer, lessons are also held at the city's outdoor aquatic park.

Open/Lap Swim

Admission is free for Community Center members and $3 for ages 2 and up.

WINTER-SPRING SESSION
When: January 4-March 22, April 5-May 2
Times: Wednesday 5-6:30 p.m.; Friday 5:30-8 p.m.; Saturday 1-3 p.m.
Where: Shakopee East Junior High, 1137 Marschall Road S.

Water Aerobics

Water Aerobics

Water aerobics is a safe and effective way to strengthen your heart, tone your muscles and burn calories with minimal impact on your joints. This class is appropriate for all levels of participants as moves can be easily modified.

Admission is free for Community Center members, $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents.

WINTER-SPRING SESSION
When: Jan. 4- March 22 & April 3-May 31 (No class May 29)
Time: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays
Where: Shakopee East Junior High, 1137 Marschall Road S.

Lifeguard & Water Safety Instructor Training

LIFEGUARD TRAINING COURSE

This course trains individuals to become a professional lifeguard. Students must attend all classes to obtain a LGT certificate. Students must be 15 years of age, demonstrate Level 5 swimming ability and possess a mature and dependable character. Certification includes CPR and basic first aid.

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR

This course is designed for those individuals who would like to teach swimming lessons and share their love of swimming with others. Pre-requisites: at least 16 years old, Level 5 or higher swim skill and a desire to help others learn to swim.
