Tree preservation regulations (City Code 151.113) are designed to protect the city's natural environment a and  preserve existing woodlands while positioning the city for continued growth.

Woodland Alteration Permit 

Required for:

  • Residential parcels 2.5 acres or greater AND all commercial/industrial parcels when any private or public infrastructure and utility installation, building construction, excavation, grading, clearing, filling or other earth change will occur in the cutting, removal or killing of a significant tree.
  • Residential parcels 2.5 acres or smaller for construction of an initial dwelling.

Forestry Specifications Manual   

The city's Forestry Specifications Manual [PDF] serves as a standard for the planting, transplanting, maintenance and removal of all public trees by city employees. It also serves as a guideline for contractors planting, maintaining and removing trees and shrubs ordered by the city.
