Bicycle Advisory Committee

The Bicycle Advisory Committee promoted active living and provide safe and accessible routes to cyclists in the community. The committee is responsible for promoting commuter and recreational bicycling, advocating for bicycling infrastructure improvements, encouraging safe riding through education and involving residents to become interested in bicycling issues throughout the city.

The committee focuses on five strategic areas to help create a bike friendly community:

  • Evaluation/planning
  • Encouragement
  • Enforcement
  • Engineering
  • Education

The group advises the Park and Recreation Advisory Board. Members serve staggered three-year terms.

The city received an Honorable Mention from The League of American Bicyclist in its efforts to be designated a Bicycle Friendly Community in 2015. Visit the Cycling page to learn more about bicycling in Shakopee.
