The City of Shakopee's Comprehensive Plan identifies its future development goals and objectives. The last update of the comprehensive plan that received Metropolitan Council acceptance was completed in 1999, and it looked ahead to the year 2020. The plan has since been updated to ensure that it continues to meet the city’s needs in guiding growth and development through the year 2030 and that it meets the requirements of the state’s Metropolitan Land Planning Act.
The city spent three years updating its 2030 Comprehensive Plan, broken out in chapters below. The Shakopee City Council formally adopted the plan on Aug. 28, 2009 [PDF].
The 2030 plan will serve as the city's official plan until the 2040 Comprehensive Plan is approved and adopted some time in 2019.
