Update: Suspect identified in Nov. 6 homicide
Shakopee, Minn. – The Shakopee Police Department has identified the suspect in its Nov. 6 homicide investigation as Sergey Nikolaevich Balandin, a 31-year-old male from Shakopee. Balandin was booked into the Scott County Jail this evening on second-degree murder.
The suspect is believed to be the victim’s boyfriend. He was apprehended shortly after the reported incident near the Hampton Inn in Shakopee, following a brief standoff with officers. Officers located the suspect hiding behind bushes.
The victim will be identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office pending notification of family members.
